This Privacy Policy explains how Softnergy Limited ("IgboCrush", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and shares your personal data when you use the IgboCrush mobile application and website.

Softnergy Limited is the data controller responsible for your personal data under the UK GDPR and, where applicable, the EU GDPR.

2. What personal data we collect

We collect different categories of personal data depending on how you interact with IgboCrush.

Special category data

Some data we collect may constitute special category data under UK/EU GDPR, including information about your religion and ethnicity. We collect this solely to provide core app functionality and only with your explicit consent.

IgboCrush is not intended for users under 18. If you believe a minor has registered, contact privacy@igbocrush.com.

Legal disclosure

We may disclose your data to law enforcement agencies, courts, or regulatory authorities where legally required or where necessary to protect user safety.

Business transfers

In the event of a merger or acquisition, your data may be transferred to the acquiring entity. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

5. International data transfers

Where we transfer personal data outside the UK and EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the UK ICO or equivalent mechanisms.

7. Your rights under UK and EU GDPR

Right to erasureYou can request deletion of your personal data where there is no legitimate reason for us to continue processing it.

Right to objectYou can object to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing purposes.

Right to lodge a complaintYou have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or your local supervisory authority in the EEA.

8. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data.

Passwords are hashed using bcrypt — we never store plain-text passwords

All data in transit is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS

Profile photos are stored in private cloud buckets (AWS S3, Cloudinary)

Access to production systems is restricted to authorised personnel only

JWT tokens are used for authenticated API requests with expiry controls

IP-based fraud detection to identify suspicious login patterns

If you believe your account has been compromised, contact support@igbocrush.com immediately.

9. Cookies and tracking

Mobile app

The app does not use browser cookies. We use device identifiers and push notification tokens. You can manage notifications through your device settings.

Website

We use essential cookies (required to function) and analytics cookies (anonymised where possible). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

10. Automated decision-making and profiling

IgboCrush uses automated processes to calculate compatibility scores between users. This constitutes automated profiling under GDPR. No solely automated decisions are made that produce significant legal effects — all matching is advisory and you retain full control.

You may object to this profiling by contacting privacy@igbocrush.com.

11. The Nnamdi AI feature

The optional Nnamdi AI dating coach sends conversation content and selected profile data to Anthropic's Claude API. This is subject to Anthropic's privacy policy. We do not store AI conversation history beyond your current session. Use is entirely optional.

12. Account deletion

Delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account. Upon deletion:

Your profile will be immediately removed from the discovery feed

Your personal data will be deleted from our systems within 30 days

Your profile photos will be removed from Cloudinary and AWS S3 within 30 days

Your messages will be deleted from our database within 30 days

Payment records may be retained for up to 7 years for legal and accounting purposes

Safety-related records may be retained for up to 5 years

13. Changes to this policy

When we make material changes we will notify you by email and/or by a prominent notice in the app before the changes take effect.
